Evolving towards a low-emissions energy model

Our objective is to advance in the energy transition and reduce not only our emissions but also those derived from the use of our products. That's why we have increased our portfolio of renewable energy projects, reaching a low-carbon generation capacity of 5 GW, which is more than 65% of our goal set for 2025.

International expansion in the renewable energy market

We are advancing toward our goal of becoming a global player in renewable energy. In 2024, we completed the construction of the Frye Solar photovoltaic plant in the United States, the largest solar project built by Repsol, with nearly one million panels and an installed capacity of 637 MW.

In 2023, Repsol entered the U.S. onshore wind market with the acquisition of ConnectGen from Quantum Capital Group, strengthening the company's position in the renewable energy market.

In the first half of 2023, Repsol and the Ibereólica Renovables Group’s first solar project in Chile began producing electricity. This is Repsol Ibereólica Renovables Chile's third joint project in operation, after the 192.5 MW Cabo Leones III and 165.3 MW Atacama wind farms, strengthening the company's low-emissions business in the country.

Recognized by experts

Carbon Tracker, team of financial specialists, has published a report which carries out an in-depth analysis of the climate ambitions of companies in the energy sector. In response to the growing worry of our ability to fight climate change, many companies have set climate objectives that often include net zero emissions targets, but which vary considerably from one business to another, depending on the metrics used and its alignment with the Paris Agreement. Eni, Repsol, and BP lead the ranking, followed by Shell, Toal, and Equinor.
