Repsol Advance  - Emulsions for gravel chippings

Surface dressing with gravel chippings (TSRG) has the honor of being the first asphalt paving technique.

Properties and applications

This leading position is given both in terms of its age and in terms of the surface area paved annually worldwide. A surface dressing with gravel chippings (TSRG) consists of applying one or more layers of an emulsion on a surface with one or more layers of aggregate.

The basic mission of the emulsions in TSRGs is to ensure the bonding of the gravels to the road surface. For this, it is necessary for the binder to be sufficiently adhered to the gravels themselves and to the road surface (active adhesion), for this adhesion to be durable even in the presence of water (passive adhesion), and for the binder itself to have sufficient internal resistance not to break under the stresses of traffic (cohesion).
